Important safety instructions

Read all instructions before using this appliance. If the
information in this manual is not followed exactly, a fire or
explosion may result causing property damage, personal
injury or death. To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock,
or injury to persons, take these precautions:

Installation

Ensure your appliance is installed and grounded by a
qualified technican.

Know where and how to switch off power to the cookĆ
top.

Intended Use

This appliance is intended for normal family household
use only. See the Warranty. If you have any questions,
contact the manufacturer.

This appliance is for residential use only. It is not approĆ
ved for outdoor use.

Never use the cooktop to warm or heat a room.

Cooking Safety

When children become old enough to operate the apĆ
pliance, it is the legal responsibility of the parents or legal
guardians to ensure that they are instructed in safe pracĆ
tices by qualified persons.

Do not allow lids or other large metal objects to come in
contact with a surface element. Do not allow pans to boil
dry.

Do not touch surface units or areas near units. Surface
units may be hot even though they are dark in color.
Areas near surface units may become hot enough to
cause burns. During and after use, do not touch, or let
clothing or other flammable materials contact surface
units or areas near units until they have had sufficent time
to cool.

Use only dry potholders; moist or damp potholders on
hot surfaces may cause burns from steam. Do not let
potholder touch hot heating elements. Do not use a toĆ
wel or bulky cloth.

Never move a pan of hot oil, especially a deep fat fryer.
Wait until it is cool.

Never leave the cooktop unattended when in use. BoiloĆ
vers cause smoking, and greasy spillovers may ignite.

Leave the hood ventilator on when flambéing food.

Cookware Safety

To reduce the risk of burns, ignition of flammable materiĆ
als, and spillage due to unintentional contact with a utenĆ
sil, the handle of the utensil should be turned inward so it
does not extend over adjacent surface units.

Use proper pan size Ć this appliance is equipped with
one or more surface units of different size. Select utensils
having flat bottoms large enough to cover the surface
unit heating element. The use of undersized utensils will
expose a portion of the heating element to direct contact
and may result in ignition of clothing. Proper relationship
of utensil to burner also improves efficiency.

Cleaning Safety

Do not clean the cooktop while it is still hot. Some cleaĆ
ners produce noxious fumes when applied to a hot surfaĆ
ce. If a wet sponge or a cloth is used to clean spills on a
hot cooking area, be careful to avoid steam burn.

Condition of Unit

Do not cook on a broken cooktop. If the cooktop should
break, cleaning solutions and spillovers may penetrate
the broken cooktop and create a risk of electric shock.
Contact a qualified technician immediately.

Work Space / Environment

Always have a working smoke detector near the kitchen.

Children should not be left unattended in an area where
appliances are in use. They should never be allowed to
sit or stand on any part of the appliance.
