1-3 Server Chassis Features

The SC815TQ-700/SC815S-700 is one of Supermicro's third-generation 1U chas-

sis and features four hot-swap drive bays for SATA/SCSI drives, a slim DVD-ROM

drive, a slim 3.5" fl oppy drive and a revolutionary cooling design that can keep

today's most powerful processors running well below their temperature thresh-

olds. The following is a general outline of the main features of the SC815TQ-

700/SC815S-700 chassis.

System Power

The SC815TQ-700/SC815S-700 chassis includes a single 700W cold-swap power

supply.

Serial ATA Subsystem (6015B-T+)

For the 6015B-T+, the SC815TQ-700 chassis was designed to support four Serial

ATA hard drives, which are hot-swappable units.

Note: The operating system you use must have RAID support to enable the hot-

swap capability of the Serial ATA drives.

SCSI Subsystem (6015B-8+)

For the 6015B-8+, the SC815S-700 chassis was designed to support four SCSI

hard drives, which are hot-swappable units.

Note: The operating system you use must have RAID support to enable the hot-

swap capability of the SCSI drives.

Control Panel

The SC815TQ-700/SC815S-700 control panel provides important system monitor-

ing and control information. LEDs indicate power on, network activity, hard disk

drive activity and system overheat conditions. Also present are a main power

button and a system reset button.

I/O Backplane

The SC815TQ-700/SC815S-700 is a 1U rackmount chassis. Its I/O backplane

provides one full-height full-length and one low profi le slot for PCI add-on cards,

one COM port (the other is internal), one VGA port, two USB ports, PS/2 mouse

and keyboard ports and two Ethernet (LAN) ports.
