Warning!

We do not recommend removal of the heatsink. However,

if you do need to uninstall the heatsink, please follow the instructions

below to prevent damage to the CPU or the CPU socket.

!

Installing the Heatsink

1. Do not apply any thermal grease

to the heatsink or the CPU die; the

required amount has already been

applied.

2. Place the heatsink on top of the CPU

so that the four mounting holes are

aligned with those on the (preinstalled)

heatsink retention mechanism.

3. Screw in two diagonal screws (i.e.

the number 1 and 2 screws, as shown

on right) until just snug. Do not fully

tighten the screws or you may damage

the CPU.

4. Add the two remaining screws then

fi nish the installation by fully tightening

all four screws.

Removing the Heatsink

1. Unscrew and remove the heatsink screws from the serverboard in the sequence

as shown above.

2. Hold the heatsink and gently wriggle the heatsink to loosen it from the CPU. (Do not

use excessive force when wriggling the heatsink!!)

3. Once the CPU is loose, remove the heatsink from the CPU socket.

4. Clean the surface of the CPU and the heatsink to get rid of the old thermal grease.

Reapply the proper amount of thermal grease on the surface before you re-install the

CPU and the heatsink.
