How do I install software from a DVD/CD?

You have the following options:

USB DVD/CD-ROM—Windows XP supports USB mass storage
devices. With most USB DVD/CD-ROM drives, once you plug the
drive into the USB port, you should be able to access the drive through
a drive letter.

Mapped network drive—You can use the Ethernet to connect to
another computer. If you share the CD-ROM drive on the other
computer, you can map the shared CD-ROM drive to a drive letter
on the NI VXIpc-882.

Boot Options

What devices can I boot from?

The NI VXIpc-882 can boot from the following devices:

The internal SATA hard drive.

An external USB mass storage device such as a USB hard drive or
CD-ROM.

An external USB floppy drive.

A network PXE server on the same subnet.

Note

There are some limitations when booting from a USB device. Windows does not

support booting from USB devices. Windows XP can be installed from a USB
DVD/CD-ROM, but earlier versions of Windows cannot. The NI VXIpc-882 BIOS
configures the USB devices so they will work in a DOS environment.
