Chapter 5

These are the settings for MIDI-related functions.

CHANNEL [1–16]

Selects the MIDI channel used for receiving MIDI messages.

OMNI MODE [OMNI OFF, OMNI ON]

If omni mode is turned on, MIDI data will be received on all
channels, regardless of the MIDI channel setting.

DEVICE ID [1–32]

Determines the device ID used for transmitting and receiving
exclusive messages.

PROGRAM CHANGE OUT

This selects whether or not to output program change
messages when patch numbers are changed on the GT-3.
OFF:

Program change messages are not output even when
patch numbers are changed.

ON:

When a patch number is changed, the program change
message is output.

PC MAP SELECT

(program change map select)

Determines how patch numbers will change when the VG-88
receives program change messages.
FIX:

The patch numbers of the default settings will be
selected.

PROG:

The patch numbers specified by the Program Change
Map will be selected.

EXP PEDAL NUMBER

[OFF, CC#1–CC#31, CC#64–CC#95]

This sets the controller number of the control change
messages that will be used to transmit information
describing the operation of the Expression pedal. When set to
“OFF,” no control change messages will be transmitted.

CTL PEDAL NUMBER

[OFF, CC#1–CC#31, CC#64–CC#95]

This sets the controller number of the control change
messages that will be used to transmit information
describing the operation of the CTL pedal. When set to
“OFF,” no control change messages will be transmitted.

SUB CTL 1 NUMBER

[OFF, CC#1–CC#31, CC#64–CC#95]

This sets the controller number of the control change
messages that will be used to transmit information
describing the operation of the external device connected to
the SUB CTL 1 jack. When set to “OFF,” no control change
messages will be transmitted.

SUB CTL 2 NUMBER

[OFF, CC#1–CC#31, CC#64–CC#95]

This sets the controller number of the control change
messages that will be used to transmit information
describing the operation of the external device connected to
the SUB CTL 2 jack. When set to “OFF,” no control change
messages will be transmitted.

PROG MAP (program map)

When using program change messages transmitted from an
external MIDI device to select patch numbers, you can freely
specify the correspondence between the program change
messages received by the VG-88 and the patch numbers that
will be selected.

BULK DUMP

Provides for the transmission of data via MIDI.

START [SYSTEM, #1-1–#25-4]

Selects the first patch or system that will be transmitted.

END

Selects the last patch or system that will be transmitted.

DUMP

Initiates a bulk dump.

BULK LOAD

Provides for the reception of data via MIDI.

Exchange the order of patches.

PATCH A [#1-1–#25-4]
PATCH B [#1-1–#25-4]

Select the patches that you wish to exchange.

EXCHANGE

Begins the exchange.
