TASCAM DP-004

11–Exchanging Data with a Computer

6 Connect this unit to a computer using the USB

cable (see Connecting with a computer on page

92).

7 Use the computer to copy backup files from the

BACKUP directory on the FAT partition of the

unit to the computer.

8 After copying finishes, disconnect the unit from

the computer using the proper procedures and then

remove the USB cable (see “Disconnecting” on page

93).

CAUTION

If you change the song file name on the computer,

you might have trouble when you restore the file

to this unit later.
If you do change the file name of the backed-up

song file, do not use more than eight characters in

the new name.

TIP

You can make further backup copies of the song

file by copying it from the computer to a CD-R, for

example.
You can also restore a backed-up song file to a differ-

ent DP-004 unit. Since files can be shared freely

between DP-004 units, you can easily conduct over-

dubbing or mixdown at different locations.
