Your fax machine is equipped with an
error correction facility (ECM). If your fax
partner also has an error correction
facility, this permits error-free fax
transmission. One effect linked with ECM
is that the transmission time increases if
there are any problems on the line. This
may involve very high costs with oversees
calls. For this reason, the error correction
facility can be temporarily disabled.
