3.1.6 Number of Starts per Hour (electric pump)

Please read the motor operating instructions supplied with the electric pump.

The number of starts per hour specified in the manual is in any case lower than the maximum number tolerated by the flexible coupling.

If you have purchased only the pump and you wish to couple it to a flameproof motor you must:
- Remember that, according to the legislation in force, if you mount a pump onto an electric motor you practically become a manufacturer,

with all the obligations this entails (risk analysis, attaching a rating plate with your name,……).

- Check the working limits in the motor documentation.
- Check the working limits in the flexible coupling documentation.
- Draft operating instructions for the electric pump.

3.1.7 Installation Site

Make sure that the pump/electric pump is suitable for use in the classified area (according to Directive 1999/92/EC) and for the nature
of any flammable substances present (gas, vapour, mist).

According to Directive 1999/92/EC, Category 3 equipment is suitable for use in Zone 2 areas only.

This pump/electric pump is not suitable for installation in sites where the danger of explosion is due to the presence of flam-
mable powders.

This pump/electric pump is not suitable for mining applications.

Protect the pump from the weather (rain, wind,…) and freezing temperatures.
Provide adequate ventilation for motor cooling purposes.
Ambient temperature -20°C to +40°C as provided by EN 50014.
Relative ambient humidity must not exceed 50% at +40°C.
For conditions other than those specified above, please contact our Sales and Service Department.

Provide adequate lighting and clearance around the electric pump. Make sure it is easily accessible for installation and maintenance operations.

Make sure that any fluid leaks or other events of this nature will not lead to flooding of the installation site and consequent submersion of the electric pump.

3.1.8 Power Supply Requirements

Make sure that the supply voltages and frequencies are suited to the characteristics of the electric motor. Refer to the motor rating plate.

3.1.9 Sound Emission Level

Refer to the relevant electric pump manual.

3.2

Special Applications

For any condition or situation (nature of the liquid, installation,…) other than those described in this manual, please contact our Sales
and Service Department

If you need to replace or modify the impeller in order to reduce the pump performance, do not disassemble the pump but contact our
Sales and Service Department.

3.2.1 Improper Use

If you use the pump/electric pump improperly, you may create dangerous conditions and cause personal injury and damage to pro-
perty.
Here are a few examples of improper use :
- pumping liquids that are not compatible with the pump construction materials
- pumping hazardous (toxic, explosive, corrosive) liquids
- pumping drinking liquids (wine, milk,……)
- installing the electric pump in a location where the air temperature is very high and/or there is poor ventilation
- installing the electric pump outdoors without protection against rain and/or freezing temperatures
- using the pump for flow rates beyond those specified in the rating plate.

3.3
