The following requirements apply to the single-VCS deployment depicted in the figure above:
• Top of rack switches can be Brocade VDX 6710, VDX 6720, VDX 6730, VDX 6740, VDX 6740T,
VDX 6740T-1G, or VDX 8770 models. However, top of rack switches are typically only Layer 2-
capable when used in this context as part of a PIM environment, and PIM can be enabled on the
Brocade VDX 8770 and VDX 6740 models only.
• Top of rack switches must have IGMP-snooping enabled.
• Aggregation-layer switches must be Brocade VDX 8770 or VDX 6740 models only.
• Aggregation-layer switches can be PIM-enabled.
• L3 (VRRP-E and OSPF) can be configured on all interfaces with L3 connectivity to the data-center
core.
• IGMP snooping must be enabled on the aggregation-layer switches.
• PIM DR-priority is configured on ve interfaces of all PIM-capable aggregation routers to optimize
load-sharing abilities within the aggregation.
