If volumes appear in blue bold italics on the LDEV information table, do either of the following
to re-operate the volumes:

Click Apply or Cancel.

Right-click the volume displayed in blue bold italics and select Reset .

Formatting All Volumes in Disk Groups or Parity Groups

This section describes how to format all volumes in disk groups or parity groups. This procedure
formats all the volumes except for the following:

Pool volumes

Journal volumes

Volumes whose access attribute are not Read/Write

Volumes that are not blocked

Quorum disks

To format all volumes in disk groups or parity groups:

1.

Make sure that Remote Web Console is in Modify mode.

In the Customized Volume window (

“Customized Volume Window” (page 26)

), click Format

All. The Format All dialog box appears.

In Action, select Format.

4.

In Parity Group Type, select Internal or External. Select Internal if you want to format volumes
in the XP24000/XP20000 disk array. Select External if you want to format volumes in external
storage systems.

5.

In Target, select Box or Parity Group. Select Box if you want to format volumes in disk groups.
Select Parity Group if you want to format volumes in parity groups.

6.

The list shows disk groups or parity groups.

7.

Check the list by taking the following steps:
a.

Check the list to see whether Format appears to the right of the disk groups or parity
groups that will be formatted.

If Format is not displayed, select the disk groups or the parity groups, and then click Set.
The right column will display Format.

b.

Check the list to see if nothing appears to the right of the disk groups or parity groups
that will not be formatted.

If anything appears, select the disk groups or parity groups, and then click Release. The
right column will become empty.

8.

Do either of the following:

If Parity Group Type is Internal, change it to External. After that, take steps 5-7 to identify
the external volumes to be formatted and the external volumes not to be formatted.

If Parity Group Type is External, change it to Internal. After that, take steps 5-7 to identify
the internal volumes to be formatted and the internal volumes not to be formatted.

When the Format All dialog box appears, all entries in the Action column are Format, which
means all disk groups or all parity groups will be formatted.

If you change the selection in Target when any of the entries in the Action column are empty,
all entries in the Action column will change to Format.
