a. Check that the power cord is fully seated into the AC power receptacle on the

tape drive.

b. Plug the other end of the power cord to a near by AC power outlet.

c.

Turn the power switch on.

2. Wait until the drive has finished an IPL:

The tape messages CC DIAGS and ASIA DIAGS indicate the IPL
diagnostics are active. These messages require no action on your part.

The tape drive powers on automatically to Online if it is operable and no
configuration error was occurred.

The tape drive powers on to Offline if a configuration error occurred and
the message FIX_CfgErr is displayed.

for the

corrective action.

4. Inform the operator when the tape drive is available.

Taking the Tape Drive Online or Offline

for all host paths to the drive.

2. Press the Menu switch. The display shows Online or Offline. This is the

present state of the tape drive.

“Offl Pend” means offline is pending (waiting for the system response).

“Onl Pend” means online is pending (waiting for the diagnostics completion).

“IPL Pend” means the IPL will start within one second.
