Make sure that the alternate backup server is connected to the HP 3PAR storage system and is set
up correctly, so that a showhostcommand on the storage system shows that the backup/alternate
backup server is online.

REASON
The TPD Host name that the user entered does not correspond to any valid host that Recovery
Manager for Oracle can discover.
SOLUTION
Make sure the value entered for Alternate TPD Host is correct, or remove the value and allow
Recovery Manager for Oracle to automatically discover alternate backup servers.

3PAR1312: ERROR: Could not generate mapping file for volume group <group>.
REASON
The LVM vgexport command, which is used to generate an LVM volume group mapping file,
has failed.
SOLUTION

Make sure the current user has write permission to the repository directory /etc/3par/
solutions/<db_server>_ora_<oracle_sid>

on the database server.

See the preceding error message to determine the cause of the failure.

on the backup server is not seen by the current user, possibly because the virtual

copy was created by root user but is being mounted by an Oracle user.
SOLUTION
Make sure the current user has read-write permission to the repository directory /etc/3par/
solutions/<db_server>.ora.<oracle_sid>/<vc_name>

on the backup server.
