Click Next.

6.

(Optional) If you wish to schedule a task for the virtual copy, perform the following:

NOTE:

If you are using HP UX; before you can schedule tasks, the system administrator must

add your user name to the relevant permissions file:

/usr/lib/cron/cron.allow

a.

Select Schedule task.

b.

(Optional) Select Email result to recipient when task is finished for Email notification.

NOTE:

In order to receive an Email notification, you must have previously configured

an Email address, as described in

“Configuring Email” (page 89)

.

c.

Select a Start Time from the drop-down list, or enter a start time.

d.

Select a task duration of Hourly, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly.

e.

Select the task interval.

f.

Click Finish.

NOTE:

If you are using HP UX, the system might display the following message:

commands will be executed using /usr/bin/sh

This message is a generic warning from the OS, and you can ignore it.

Setting up a Time-Based Virtual Copy Policy

This feature allows you to set the days or hours that a virtual copy is kept before it is automatically
removed. It also allows you to set the days or hours a virtual copy is retained.

NOTE:

You can configure the virtual copy policy using either a time-based or numeric-based

policy. The time-based policy is recommended as the numeric-based policy is deprecated and will
be removed in a future release.

To create a virtual copy policy at the database level, perform the following procedure:
1.

Right-click the database on which you will create the virtual copy policy from the navigation
tree and select Modify Configuration.

The Modify Recovery Manager Configuration Properties wizard appears.

2.

Click Next until you reach the Recovery Manager Policy in the wizard.

3.

Select Default expiration time and/or Default expiration time.

4.

Select the unit of measure for the Default expiration time and/or the Default retention time as
Days or Hours.

5.

Enter a numeric value from 1 to 1,825 (days) or 1 to 43,800 (hours) in the adjacent fields.

6.

Click Next and then Finish.

To update the virtual copy policy at the virtual copy level, perform the following procedure:
1.

Right-click Virtual Copy Management under the database on which you wish to create the
virtual copy policy from the navigation tree and select Policy.

The Recovery Manager Policy dialog box appears.

2.

Select Default expiration time and/or Default retention time.

3.

Select the unit of measure for the Default expiration time and/or the Default retention time as
Days or Hours.

4.

Enter a numeric value from 1 to 1,825 (days) or 1 to 43,800 (hours) in the adjacent fields.
