4 Update
NOTE:
Optional customer self-upgrade is available for the HP 3PAR 7000 StoreServ Storage
systems with the 3.1.3 release of the HP 3PAR OS software. Please review the documentation
thoroughly. HP recommends that you engage your service provider in performing these upgrades
if you are not familiar or comfortable with the process. To arrange for HP to perform the upgrade
for you, contact the HP global deployment center at
(in the Americas) or at
(in all other countries), and include the HP 3PAR
StoreServ Storage system serial number in the subject line. This service is available 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week.
Overview
If updates are available for the Service Processor or HP 3PAR OS software, this is indicated on
the SPOCC home page in the SP Version and HP 3PAR OS Version fields.
To update the SP or OS software, in the left navigation pane, click the link for the available update
or click Update.
NOTE:
You can also click the View release notes link to view the release note documentation for
the new version of the SP or OS software.
To view the status of the last update that was made to the SP software or to the HP 3PAR OS
software, click Update in the left navigation pane of SPOCC, and then click Show Last Service
Processor Update Status or Show Last HP 3PAR OS Update Status, as appropriate.
IMPORTANT:
If you are upgrading to HP 3PAR OS 3.1.3 from SP-4.1.0.GA-97 (MU2), you must
update the Service Processor before you update the HP 3PAR OS.
The update procedures for the Service Processor and HP 3PAR OS are as follows:

To update the Service Processor:
Select the SP version you want to update to

Install the update

To update the HP 3PAR OS:
Select the OS version you want to update to
1.

Review the release notes for the OS version you want to update to
3.
Select the update method that you want to use (online or offline)
4.
Verify that the prerequisite conditions are met
5.
Verify that the StoreServ is ready to be updated
6.
Install the update
SPOCC includes a wizard-like interface that will guide you through each of these procedures. The
following sections describe the steps that appear during the upgrade process.
IMPORTANT:
When an SP update is in progress, most other SP functions are unavailable. Do
not try to perform any SP tasks when an upgrade is in progress. Doing so may cause unpredictable
results.
Updating the Service Processor
To update the Service Processor software:
1.
In the left navigation pane, click Update.
2.
Under Service Processor and HP 3PAR OS Update, click Update Service Processor.
