Fan distribution board
The fan distribution board is located in the foam fan baffle and
provides power and signal circuitry for the hot-swappable fans.
Replacing the fan distribution board
1 Remove the front access panel (page 46).
2 Remove all fan modules from the foam fan baffle (page 88).
3 Remove the mainboard ribbon cable and the power cable from
the fan distribution board.
4 Gently press outward on two corners of the foam (Figure 55, A) to
spread open the fan distribution board slot in the foam fan
assembly, rotate the edge of the board free, and lift the board out
of the foam air baffle.
5 Place the fan distribution board with the component side up on a
nonconductive, static-free surface or in an antistatic bag.
6 Grasp the edges of the new fan distribution board with the
component side up and the end with the power and mainboard
connectors facing the rear of the server.
7 Tilt one edge of the board up about 30°, and slide the other edge
into place in the foam fan baffle.
