Settings mode

Calibration

This function adjusts the timing to output the data
according to the operation of the video device. Since the
operation speed differs depending on the device, this
function tests recording to measure the proper timing. (For
details of calibration, please read “Glossary”. (

Action Required

` When you use a device which is used with MotionDV

STUDIO for the first time, be sure to perform a
calibration before outputting the data in DV device
output mode.

` The DV device output mode cannot be used under the

connection with USB 2.0 cables. (

) Therefore, you

do not need to perform a calibration when you connect
with USB 2.0 cables.

` Connect the personal computer and the video device.

Refer to the “operating instructions for PC connection”
on how to connect them.

Set to the DV device input mode.

• The Non-linear edit mode (

) can also be used.

Set the video device to the Tape Playback
Mode and insert a blank tape that has never
been recorded on.

• It is recommended to use a new tape.
• When recording in the SP mode, set the video device

to the SP mode or when recording in the LP mode,
set it to the LP mode.

• It is recommended to calibrate or record in the SP

(Standard) mode. When the LP mode is used, the
accuracy will be degraded in comparison with the SP
mode.

• In calibration, the recording test is carried out to

check the timing for recording. Therefore, if you use a
recorded tape, the contents of the tape will be
overwritten. When you use a recorded tape, check if
the contents are unnecessary.
