ASF file

• ASF is an abbreviation of Advanced Systems Format,

and one of Windows Media

®

files. Because its size is

small, it is suitable for data transmission and reception
over a phone line etc.

AVI file

• AVI is an abbreviation of Audio Video Interleave, and

the data format which video and sound data are
synchronised. The extension of this file is [.avi].

• With MotionDV STUDIO, you can edit

DV-compressed AVI (AVI2.0 Type2) files.

Batch capture

• Batch capture refers to importing (capturing)

designated multiple scenes of the video on a tape at a
time. You can batch capture when importing based on
Mark-in & Mark-out added or when importing based
on indexes.

BMP file

• BMP is an abbreviation of Bitmap, and an image

format most commonly used in Windows.

• The extension of this file is [.bmp].

Calibration

• If there is a fine timing deviation when controlling the

video device from MotionDV STUDIO, a blank part is
produced on the recorded tape, or part of the video is
cut out. Then, record with the connected device as a
trial to judge whether or not the recording timing is
optimal. After the result is registered, the timing
deviation is eliminated and thus the optimum video
can be recorded.
It is called calibration. It adjusts the video device for
optimum recording by correcting its characteristics.

Clip

• In these Operating instructions, the materials used as

editing materials of MotionDV STUDIO are named
clips. Video materials are described as video clips, still
image materials as still image clips, and tape
materials as tape clips.
