Picture is too
dark. Flash is not on. Turn on the flash ( page 26 ).
Flash unit is not open. Slide the flash release button to
open the flash unit ( page 26 ).
The subject is too far
away for the flash to
have an effect. Move so there is no more than
16.1 ft (4.9 m) between the
camera and the subject in Wide;
13.8 ft (4.2 m) in Telephoto.
The subject is in front
of a bright light
(backlit). Use Fill flash ( page 26 ) or change
your position so light is not behind
the subject.
Not enough light. Reposition the camera or subject
for more available light.
Use PASM mode to adjust the
aperture or shutter speed
(
page 19 ).
Auto exposure was not
achieved. To take the best possible pictures,
press the Shutter button
half-way and hold
. When the
ready light glows green, press the
Shutter button the rest of the
way down
to take the picture.
