About This Chapter
This chapter, as well as the information in the Safety Chapter, contains information you should know before
you attempt to run tests with your MTS Criterion Series 40 System. This information applies to the typical
system used as an example in this manual.
For information that applies to other system configurations or tests, see:

The "Best Practices for Other System Configurations and Tests" chapter in this manual.
•
The individual component products manuals included in the System Documentation found under the
Start menu on your system PC.
Understanding Your MTS Software
Introduction
Your MTS controller includes two components:
•
MTS Insight controller, which provides real-time control of the system
•
MTS TestSuite test software, which you use to set up tests, run tests, and analyze test results.
While you are not required to interact with the MTS Insight controller, you should be aware that it includes
firmware which is installed on your system during software installation. This firmware is critical to proper
system operation.
MTS TestSuite Test Software and the MTS TW Express (TWX) Application
MTS TestSuite software includes several applications. Depending on your installation, you may be able
to access MTS TW Elite, MTS TW Express, MTS License Administrator, TestWorks 4 Converter, and so
on, from the Start menu or desktop icons.
