Start Up

Introducing Incoming Power

Perform the following procedure to place the Rig Monitor into normal operation.

1.

Complete the mounting and wiring procedures described earlier in this chapter.

2.

Verify that all wiring connections are correct and secure and that the Rig Monitor’s power
switch is in the OFF position.

3.

If not already connected, connect the battery clamps to the + and - terminals of the 12 VDC
battery.

4.

Turn on the power switch.

5.

The LCD display will indicate the firmware version when the Rig Monitor is first powered up
and will then count down a one minute warm-up period before normal operation begins.
During normal operation, the display will indicate the current gas reading and target gas.
Verify that the display is indicating the current gas reading and target gas after the warm-up
period is complete and normal operation begins, for example:

NOTE:

To prevent unwanted alarms during warm up, the alarm circuits are not active during
the warm-up period.

S detector will begin operating once power is introduced to the Rig Monitor.
