HMC-410 ROBOTIC INTERFACE KIT

This publication documents the operation of the HMC-410 Robotic Interface Kit. This manual should be
used in conjunction with the Owner’s Manual for the HMC-410 (430429-445). No attempt has been made
to duplicate the information from that manual into this manual.
Description
The HMC-410 Robotic Interface Kit allows the HMC-410 to be adapted for easy interfacing to various ro-
botic systems. The instructions for the following kits are documented:
ABB Interface Kit 870236-001
Fanuc Interface Kit 870236-002
Comau Interface Kit 870236-003
The kit includes a robotic interface board that provides additional analog and digital inputs and outputs for
full implementation of the robotic interfaces. An amphenol board is supplied for ease of attaching this inter-
face to the robot. Also included in the kit are the hardware, cable assemblies, and software required to use
the kit for its intended purpose.
Installation Instructions
WARNING: High Voltage is present in the HMC-410 and the Arc-Master or
Power-Master power source. Please ensure that all power is removed from
these items before continuing with these instructions.
HMC-410 Robotic Interface Kit Installation
Refer to the HMC-410 Owner’s Manual for proper configuration of the HMC-410 for the power source that
this equipment will be attached to, especially the jumpers on the circuit boards. It is important that this step
is performed before the robotic interface kit is installed since these jumpers are made less accessible once
the kit is installed.
Refer to the instructions included with each Interface Kit on installing the robotic interface components in-
side of the HMC-410.
The HMC-410 may be mounted on a wall near the robot controller or welding power source with the sup-
plied mounting brackets. It may also be mounted on top of the welding power source with the 170962 base
(sold separately).
