REPAIR

POWER TRAIN

Differential

1. Remove snap rings (C), thrust washers (A) and

bevel side gears (B).

2. Remove pinion gears (D) from pinion shaft (E).

Shift Shaft

IMPORTANT: Pay close attention how shaft is

originally assembled. Note the direction of
detent washers and the direction the gears are
facing.

1. Remove and clean parts. Always install new O-

rings.

Assemble

1. Face undercut side of gears toward bevel gear.
2. Face detent cone washers toward shaft keys.
3. Face differential input gear with undercut side

towards bevel gear.

4. Face undercut I. D. of shift collar towards bevel

gear.

Input Bevel Gear

NOTE: Remove bearing only if replacement is

necessary.

1. Remove and inspect input bevel gear (A) and

bearing (B). If bearing is rough or pitted, check
bearing surface (C).

Q—Shifter Brake Shaft

F—Bevel Ring Gear

L—Stop Washer

R—Shift Keys
