Using the System Setup Program

Table 2-1 lists the keys that you use to view or change information on the
System Setup program screens, and to exit the program.

NOTE:

For most of the options, any changes that you make are recorded but do not

take effect until you restart the system.

System Setup Program Navigation Keys

Keys

Action

Tab or <Shift><Tab>

Cycles cursor up and down.

Down arrow or Up arrow

Moves cursor up and down.

Spacebar, <+>,<–>, left
and right arrow

Cycles through the settings in a field. In many fields,
you can also type the appropriate value.

<Enter>

Allows you to open a window, edit the date and time,
or confirm your setting change and move the cursor
back to the option menu

<Esc>

Displays three options:

• Save changes and Exit

• Discard changes and Exit

• Opens the System Setup

Exit screen

<F1>

Displays the System Setup program

selected field.

<Alt-B>

Reboots the system.

<Alt-F>

Loads the defaults for all fields.

<Alt-D>

Loads the default for the selected field.

<Alt-R>

Restores original values.

<Alt-X>

Exits the operating system without saving.

Ctrl-Alt-Del

Reboots without saving.

Home/End

Moves cursor to the first item or last item.

<A>

Sets SATA controller to ATA mode.

<0>

Sets SATA controller to off.
