Removing the Hinge Cover

CAUTION:

Before you begin the following procedure, follow the safety

instructions in the Product Information Guide.

NOTICE:

To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist

grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as the
back panel) on the computer.

NOTICE:

To help prevent damage to the system board, remove the main battery

(see "Before Working Inside Your Computer" on page 156) before working inside the
computer.

NOTICE:

The hinge cover is fragile and can be damaged if extreme force is used.

Be careful when removing the hinge cover.

1 Follow the instructions in "Before Working Inside Your Computer" on

page 156.

NOTICE:

To help avoid damage to the hinge cover, ensure that it is snapped

securely into place before you rotate the display open to 180 degrees.

2 Open the display all the way (180 degrees) so that it lies flat against your

work surface.

3 Using a small plastic scribe, insert the scribe on the right side to gently pry

the hinge cover loose.

4 Pulling up from right to left, remove the hinge cover.
