Resetting the Microcomputer

If the microcomputer may malfunction (unit cannot be operated, or

shows an erroneous display) if the power cord is unplugged while the
power is ON, or due to some other external factor. If this happens,
execute the following procedure to reset the microcomputer and

^turn the unit to its normal operating condition.

With the power cord plugged in, turn the MAIN POWER
key OFF. Then, while holding down the REMOTE POWER
key, press MAIN POWER.

• Please note that resetting the microcomputer will clear the contents

of the memory and returns the unit to the state it was in when it left
the factory.

Amplifier

No sound from the speakers.

The speaker cords are disconnected.

e VOLUME is set to the minimum position.
MUTE is ON.

(The MUTE indicator is blinking)

e The SPEAKERS switches are set to OFF.
The TAPE 2(MONITOR) key is set to ON.

Connect them properly referring to "Connect­

ing the speakers" -[42

Adjust the volume to a proper level.
Turn OFF the MUTE.

(use the remote)

Set the SPEAKERS switch(es) to ON. -[^2
Set the TAPE 2(MONITOR) key to OFF.

The standby indicator blinks and sound is

not output.

Speaker cords are short-circuited.

Turn the power off, eliminate the short-

circuiting, then turn on the power again.

Sound is not output from one of the speak­
ers.

The speaker cord is disconnected.

The BALANCE control is set to an extreme

position.

Connect it properly referring to "Connecting

the speakers".

Adjust the Left/Right balance.

Sound is not output from the rear (sur­
round) speakers and/or the center speaker,

or their sound is very small.

Therearspeakercordsand/orthecenterspeaker

cord is disconnected.

A surround mode has not been engaged.
The REAR VOL. and/or CENTER VOL. controls

are set to the minimum level.

Connect it properly referring to "Connecting

the speakers",

Select a surround mode.
Adjust the REAR VOL. and CENTER VOL con­

trols.

jj^ humming noise is generated when the

PHONO input selector is selected.

The audio cord from the turntable is not con­

nected to the PFIONO jacks.

The turntable is not grounded.

Insert the audio cord plugs securely into the

PHONO jacks.

Connect the grounding wire to the GND termi­

nal on the rear panel.
