End of Season and Storage

If you will not use the machine for an extended period, the following steps will help insure the best
performance when you return it to service:

WHEN PERFORMING ANY ADJUSTMENT OR MAINTENANCE, YOU MUST FIRST SHUT OFF THE ENGINE,
SET THE PARKING BRAKE, WAIT FIVE (5) MINUTES TO ALLOW PARTS TO COOL AND DISCONNECT THE
SPARK PLUG WIRE(S), KEEPING IT AWAY FROM THE SPARK PLUG(S).

NOTE: Please refer to the Engine Owner's Manual for Engine-specific procedures.

Start the Engine and engage the Blades for approximately 1 minute to remove excess water from
the Belts and Pulleys.

Perform all required maintenance steps in the Maintenance Check List. See page 25.

After 30 days, you should wax painted surfaces to protect the luster of the original finish. Wash the
machine regularly with a mild automotive type detergent and water. Coat exposed bare metal
surfaces with oil, or a light coating of grease to prevent rust, until you make permanent repairs.

Change the oil and oil filter.

Remove the Spark Plug(s) and pour about 1 ounce of motor oil into the Cylinder hole(s). Replace
the Plug(s) and crank the Engine for a couple of seconds. This will coat the piston(s) and seat the
valves to prevent moisture buildup.

Clean/replace the Air Filter(s).

Clean dirt and debris from the Cylinder Head Cooling Fins, Blower Housing, Debris Screen, and
Muffler area of the Engine.

If your Engine has a Fuel Filter, replace it.

If your DR VERSA-PRO Z-MOWER will be idle for more than 30 days, we recommend using a gas
stabilizer. This will prevent sediment from gumming up the Carburetor. If there is dirt or moisture
in the gas or tank, remove it by draining the tank. Completely fill the tank with fresh, unleaded gas
and add the appropriate amount of stabilizer or gasoline additive. Run the Engine for a short time
to allow the additive to circulate.

Remove any wrapped weeds from the Blade Bearing Housings. Clean grass and debris from the
top and underneath the Mower Deck with a stiff brush.

Check the Blades for nicks and wear. Remove the Blades and sharpen, or have them professionally
sharpened if needed.

You should remove the Battery and keep it in a cool, dry place when the DR VERSA-PRO Z-MOWER
is in storage. We suggest charging the Battery once a month while the DR is stored and again
when you are ready to start the new season. This will help the Battery maintain its charge all
season. See page 41.
