Chapter 4

Maintenance, Service and Calibration

This chapter discusses routine maintenance

and calibration procedures for the user.

User Care and Maintenance

Storage

Do not leave water inside the unit when storing or shipping. At the factory
units are ‘dried’ before shipping by connecting a suction pump to each of
the

FLUID OUTLET

connectors in turn for 2 minutes. This is performed with

the unit switched off and disconnected from the supply. Connection to a
medical suction pump will not harm the unit.

Handling

The equipment will be damaged if dropped or subjected to excessive shock.

Use

For best performance the unit should be regularly used, and may be left
between test sessions with water inside.

Care of the Instrument Case

Clean using a damp cloth with a mild detergent. The molded front panel
and rear housing can be damaged if an abrasive cleaner is used.
Do not use any type of solvent to clean the case.

Cleaning the Inside of the Instrument

Over a long period of use there may be some ‘scaling’ of the inside tubes
etc. Also there may be organic growth inside the measuring system. We
suggest occasional cleaning (e.g. every 3 months) as follows:
1. Inject 20 ml of warm detergent solution into each channel that is fitted

with a measuring transducer and leave for at least 5 minutes. Then
flush out with water.

Hypochlorite / Chlorine Bleach is not allowed, nor any alcohol based agent
