Troubleshooting

Printing Issues and Solutions

This section describes situations you may encounter and their solutions.

Repeating Light Spots, Banding, or Discoloration

The image drums rotate, so any adhesive collecting on the image drums can cause
repeating patterns. If the image drums have been exposed to light and damaged, the
damaged area may result in repeated light sections, or banding, on the printed label.

Note: The printer will provide a message when an image drum is nearing the end of its service
life. However, the printer cannot detect and indicate image drum damage.

Try to determine which color is affected and clean the corresponding image drum. If
the issue persists after cleaning, replace the corresponding image drum.

Repeating Artifacts

Repeated artifacts of a particular color can result from image drums with adhesive
accumulation or damaged rollers. Try to determine which color is affected. If you
cannot determine the color, print solid blocks of each color (cyan, magenta, yellow, and
black) separately until the artifact appears.

Note: The printer will provide a message when an image drum is nearing the end of its service
life. However, the printer cannot detect and indicate image drum damage.

If the distance between repeating artifacts is consistently 3.71” (9.4 cm), the image
drum may have adhesive accumulated on the roller. Clean the image drum.

If the issue persists after cleaning, replace the corresponding image drum for the
color as the image drum may be damaged.

If the distance between repeating artifacts is consistently a measurement other
than 3.71” (9.4 cm), an internal image drum roller is scratched or otherwise
damaged and the entire drum must be replaced.

Stretched or “Dragging” Images

A wrinkled or misaligned image belt does not move properly and can result in
distortion on the label images. To attempt to correct this issue, inspect the image belt
and replace if necessary.
