Super Audio CD playback, the DSD signal is output.

OFF

Nothing is output from the i.LINK connectors. Set to OFF when not

< To output Super Audio CD surround sound, set the output to

"Multi" channel. When set to "2ch", the downmixed signal will be
output through only the front left and right channels (see page 19).

< If there is a problem with sound output, refer to the manual for the

connected amplifier or D/A converter and confirm that the format
is supported.

< If the receiving device connected to the i.LINK connector supports

flow rate control, the signal will automatically be output using flow
rate control mode.

DAC (D/A converter setting)

< When the setting is "ESL3", if the "upconversion setting" is "ORG",

"2Fs" or "4Fs", the PCM signal will be output at 48-bit, and if "8Fs", it
will be output at 24-bit.

LAYER (priority playback area)

LAYER>

***

There are two most common Super Audio CD (SACD)types: SACDs
with DSD layers only that provide user selectable choice of 2-channel
layer or Multi-channel layer, and hybrid SACDs that contain a 2-channel
SACD (DSD) layer and a CD layer.
The factory default setting is "SACD".

When a hybrid Super Audio CD is loaded and when the playback is
stopped, press the PLAY AREA button to select a playback area.

SACD:

This mode gives priority to the Super Audio CD layer. The 2-channel
layer plays back when “2ch/Multi ch“ is set to “2ch“, and the multi-
channel layer plays back when set to “multi ch“.

CD:

This mode gives priority to the CD layer.

< Selecting a layer that is not on the disc results in playback of the

layer found on the disc.

< Even if the playback layer has been changed using the PLAY AREA

button when playback is stopped, when a different disc is loaded
this is overridden by the LAYER setting.
