Chapter 6 Working with playlists

Working with programs

A program is a clip generated from a playlist using the

Save As Program

feature in the

Playlist application. A program includes all the media in the playlist, but does not
include any event that breaks the flow of playout such as a pauses between events.
You can insert programs into other playlists as an event, or load and play them using
the standard Player application. You can also send a program to a file or a video
network stream. (For more information on which types of file types you can send a
program to, see

“Importing and exporting streaming media” on page 163

.)

Using mixed aspect ratios in a playlist

The K2 Media Client can play clips with different aspect ratios in a single playlist.
How the media is displayed is determined by the play channel widescreen setting and
clip aspect ratio. The play channel determines the clip aspect ratio by examining the
clip aspect ratio attribute set when the clip was recorded.

The SD K2 Media Client models support both 16:9 and 4:3 SD resolution formats on
the same timeline. The HD/SD K2 Media Client models support playout of mixed
format clips displays with default or selectable modes such as bars, crop, or stretch on
both SD and HD outputs.

The following table describes how the K2 system displays mixed aspect ratios.
