Looping the Selection

Looping the Selection
Loop Selection provides the ability to loop-play a selected area of a Playlist. Since this is a
Playlist-specific function, it’s available only from the GUI.

Use the I-Beam tool to select the area over which you want to loop. Select Loop Selection
from the Transport pull-down menu. The loop area will be highlighted in yellow on the
normally gray Time Bar.

Press PLAY. When playback is
started, the transport will locate
to the beginning of the selected
area, play through to the end of
the selected area, and then repeat
until the transport is stopped.
You can adjust the end points of
the looped selection by dragging

using the I-Beam Tool.
Adjustment can be made while
the transport is running or
stopped (however this is difficult
if Auto Scrolling is On)

NOTE: Because the Selection area is very likely to change as you continue editing, if you want
to go back to that loop, you can save the Selection Start and End points to LOC 1 and LOC 2,
which double as loop start and end points. Move the mouse cursor up on the Time Bar and you'll
notice that it turns into a double-headed arrow in the vicinity of the start and end selection times.
Click on the starting edge of the selection to set the Current Time to that point, then Ctrl-click
with the cursor over the LOC 1 time field to copy the time there. Repeat for the end of the
selection, copying its time into LOC 2. Just make sure the double arrow is centered over the line,
and that the click is short and sweet, so that you don't inadvertently move something (zoom in if
you want to make sure). See

By the way, LOOP LOC 1-2 and Loop Selection are mutually exclusive. Turning one on turns
the other off. So you can’t loop the loop.

IMPORTANT LOOPING NOTE: The HDR loops its outgoing time code when looping the
Transport. If you have analog tape (or certain other) machines slaving to the HDR, they may go
bananas getting bounced back and forth quickly. You may want to take them out of chase mode.

Nudge Tools

This tool set allows you to nudge selected regions, areas, or area selection boundaries. Actions
include moving regions, resizing regions, moving or resizing region attributes (such as start, end or
length) in specified time increments. Multiple regions and region attributes may be selected and
