TCP/IP
TCP/IP Setup from the GUI
The TCP/IP network addresses are set by clicking in the IP Address, Subnet, or Gateway field
and entering the appropriate numbers in the dialog box using the format shown in the
illustration. Don’t forget the periods to separate the parts of the address.

Run Setup MDS
FTP TCP Network
The TCP/IP and MDS Network setup are
both accessed from the SYSTEM menu.
Selecting Setup TCP from this menu
brings up a submenu, which allows
setting of the IP address, Subnet mask,
and Gateway addresses.
Each parameter is entered by moving the
“
V” cursor over the number you wish to
change using the << >> SELECT
buttons, then scrolling with the (-)DEC
and (+)INC buttons to set the number.
Turbo FTP
Turbo FTP GUI Setup
The Turbo FTP check box should normally be checked. It improves the file transfer speed
over most networks. This function is selectable from the GUI only.
MDS Network
MDS Network GUI Setup
The MDS Network Channel and 48-Track Mode settings are pull-down menus.
Appendix E
(page 185) explains the modes and link options check boxes.
The UPDATE button in the Network GUI window causes the selected Link Options to be
sent to the other recorder on the MDS network.
MDS Network Front Panel Setup
The MDS Network Setup is performed in a similar manner to the TCP/IP setup. Select MDS
Network from the System Menu, then select the Network Channel, 48-Track Mode, or Link
Options submenus, editing the contents
using the
<< and >> SELECT buttons to
scroll through the options.

Channel Mode Options
Link Options are ON/OFF toggles for
each linkable function.
The UPDATE button is found on the third page of the MDS Network LCD menu.
Two things to check when setting up two machines in tandem:
• The two recorders must have different IP addresses
• The two recorders must be set to the same MDS Network Channel
