Appendix C - Disk Directory Organization

The HDR24/96 uses a FAT 32-based file system whose folder (directory) structure is organized in a
specific way. Since each of these directories and files can be viewed and accessed from both the Import
Audio Files dialog and from an FTP Client, it’s important to understand their organization and function.

The important files and folders are described below:

Project Files & Folders:

See the Name of each file or folder in bold underline. Italics indicate that the name or that portion of
the name is a variable as described in the text.

HDRProjects This is the top level folder (directory) containing subfolders
(subdirectories) for each Project

ProjectName This folder contains all of the files and subfolders pertaining to a
specific project. The name of the folder is the same as the name of the Project.
Project File

ProjectName.hdr This is file that contains all of the Playlist
information for the Project, as well as all the configuration
information. It’s what gets updated when you save the
Project.

Project Backup
File

MKIEtemp.hdr This is a copy of the previous
ProjectName.hdr file. If the ProjectName.hdr file becomes
corrupt or lost, it’s there as a backup and represents the state
of the project at the time of the previous Save operation.
AudioFiles 1 This folder contains all of the audio (WAV)
files recorded in the project. Depending on the length of the
project, there may be additional folders named AudioFiles 2,
AudioFiles 3, etc.

Audio Files

These are the audio files, one for each
punch in/out on each track. The files are all
named with the track name, then each
successive punch in/out on that track adds a
consecutive “take” number. For example:
Track 1_tk1.wav
Track 1_tk2
.wav
Track2_tk1
.wav
Guitar_tk1
.wav
Guitar_tk2
.wav
Guitar_tk3
.wav
The “tk” number has no relation to the
Virtual Take number. Instead these "takes"
merely represent how many new regions
have been recorded onto this particular
track.
