Turn on your computer, and then start your serial communications program or terminal emulation program.

Connect your computer to the ECP’s serial connector using a DB9 cable.

Configure your serial interface settings using the values in the table in the previous section, and then

press ENTER.

An “invalid cmd= ? for help” message appears, and the > character appears as a command prompt on the
following line.

NOTE: If no message or an error message appears, your serial interface configuration is incorrect. Return
to step 3 to reset your serial interface settings.

Type commands to configure your settings.

NOTES

To see a list of available commands, type ? and then press ENTER.

When you use a terminal emulation program, turn on your program’s local echo setting if you want to see
characters as you type them.

UF55 Projector Powerstates
The UF55 projector responds to commands only at certain power levels and times. There are four projector
powerstates:

Idle

Powering (startup)

On (operating)

Cooling (idle)

The embedded firmware program coordinates command sequencing and is capable of buffering up to

127 commands. In each powerstate, the commands are buffered until the system can process them. The

? command will list all available commands for the current powerstate.

To configure your serial interface

CAUTION

Do not connect your serial cable directly to the projector’s RS-232 serial interface. The ECP’s
RS-232 serial interface is the only recommended connection point.

IMPORTANT

The system buffer can delay response times. Response times vary.
