Button icons

The numbered translucent covers on the pushbuttons can be removed and replaced
to insert labels behind the covers.

Input and output inserts can be created easily with Extron’s Button Label Generator
software, which ships with every Extron matrix switcher. Each input and output
can be labeled with names, alphanumeric characters, or even color bitmaps for easy
and intuitive input and output selection.

Figure 3-3 shows a sample set of button inserts in a typical configuration. The icons
in the input buttons show the video sources that drive the TP transmitters that are
connected to the inputs. The TP receivers that are connected to the outputs drive
the video displays that are shown by the icons in the output buttons.

Operations

The following paragraphs detail the power up process and provide sample
procedures for creating ties, sets of ties, and configurations; changing a
configuration; viewing ties, sets of ties, and configurations; saving a preset;
recalling a preset; and viewing and adjusting the audio level.

Power

Power is automatically applied when the power cord is connected to an AC source.
When AC power is applied, the switcher performs a self-test that cycles the front
panel I/O button indicators on and off from left to right lit green, right to left lit
red, and left to right lit amber. An error-free power up self-test sequence leaves the
Video and/or the Audio LEDs on (TPX 88 A only), all other LEDs unlit, and all I/O
buttons either unlit or showing background illumination.

The current configuration and all presets are saved in non-volatile memory. When
power is applied, the last current configuration is retrieved. The previous presets
remain intact.

If an error occurs during the self-test, the switcher locks up and will not operate. If
your switcher locks up on power-up, call the Extron S
