TPX 88 Matrix Switchers • Operation

The I/O groups created under RS-232/RS-422 control can result in front panel
indications that are different from indications when grouping is not used. In the
following paragraphs, the effects of I/O grouping on the front panel indications are
included where applicable.

Creating a configuration

The current configuration can be changed using the front panel buttons. To change
the current configuration, do the following:

1

.

Press the Esc button to clear any input buttons, output buttons, or control
buttons that may be lit.

2.

(TPX 88 A only)

Select to configure video, audio, or both by pressing the I/O

button. The Video and/or Audio LEDs light to indicate that video and/or
audio are selected.

3.

Select the desired input and output(s) by pressing the input and output
buttons.

Input and output buttons light amber to indicated video and audio ties. The
buttons light green to indicated video only ties. The buttons light red to
indicate audio only ties.

To indicate current ties, the buttons for tied outputs light the appropriate color
(amber, green, or red) when an input is selected. To clear unwanted outputs
press and release the associated lit output buttons.

4

.

Press and release the Enter button.

5

.

Repeat steps 1 through 4 to create additional ties until the desired
configuration is complete.

Only one video input and one audio input can be tied to an output but
multiple outputs can be tied to a single input.

If a tie is made between an input and an output, and the selected output
was previously tied to another input, the older tie is broken in favor of the
newer tie.

If an input with no tie is selected, only that input’s button lights. The
button lights the appropriate color for the video and/or audio selection.

When the Video and Audio LEDs are lit, if an input with an audio tie but
no video tie is selected, the input’s button lights amber and the output
button lights red.

If the input button for a grouped input is pressed, and then the output
button for an output in a different group is pressed, the associated output
button does not light. That output cannot be tied to an input from a
different group using the front panel. The associated input button
remains lit.
