Programming with a PC

Prior to programming the PC Programmable Telephone Entry System with the DoorKing Remote
Account Manager for Windows software and the user supplied PC, the system must have the
MASTER CODE programmed into it. Also, the factory default for the number of area codes is 10. If
more than 10 area codes are required, this must be programmed at the unit (see 3.2.2). The master
code and number of area codes cannot be set with the PC and must be programmed from the system
keypad.

This telephone entry system has a programming function that is used in special circumstances when
interfaced with a DoorKing 1816 or 1820 Telephone Intercom System. This CALL UP feature
provides special programming that will allow the system to call the phone number of a CO line
connected to these systems. Once the 1816 or 1820 answers the call, the system will automatically
send out DTMF tones that will activate the CALL UP feature in the 1816 or 1820 system, and then
send the four digit directory code to the resident selected by the visitor. This allows visitors to contact
tenants in the building that do not have CO phone service through the telephone entry system. This
feature IS NOT programmable from the software and must be turned ON or OFF at the system
keypad (3.2.3).

NOTE: The programming steps in this section (3.2.1 through 3.2.8) can only be programmed
from the system keypad. There is no programming sequence in the Remote Account Manager
Software for these functions.

3.2.1 Master

Code

This programming step sets the system MASTER CODE. The master code is the four-digit number
required to gain access to the system memory. You need to know the master code prior to
programming the system with the PC, or to perform any of the programming functions on the
following pages.

1. Open the cabinet of the telephone entry system and turn the master code switch (the

small toggle switch) on.

2. Enter a four-digit master code _ _ _ _ then press * (beep).

3. Turn the master code switch off and close the cabinet.

3.2.2

Programming the Number of Area Codes Allowed

This programming step sets the system to allow either up to 10 or up to 255 alternate area codes
(AAC) to be programmed into the system. The factory default is set to 10 area codes. Therefore, if
you require 10 (or less) area codes, this step can be skipped. 255 area codes are available on REV
E and higher circuit boards. REV D and lower boards have 10 area codes only; therefore this
programming step is not required on systems with these circuit boards
.

Factory setting = 0 (10 area codes)

1. Press *60 and enter the four-digit MASTER CODE _ _ _ _ (beep). The display will read:

10 AAC=0 255 AAC=1

2. Enter 0* (beep) for 10 area codes OR enter 1* (beep) for 255 area codes. The display

will read: ERASE MEM? 1=Y 0=N. (Choosing 1 will erase the memory and evoke the
area code choice. Choosing 0 will not erase memory and will not evoke the choice).

3. Enter either 1* to set the change OR 0* to cancel (beeeeeep).
