Drive-Power Cutoff Control Circuit

(1) Connection Example of External Drive-Power Cutoff Control Circuit

The next page shows a sample connection circuit for cutting off the drive power externally for
each safety category. For the safety relay unit, the names and arrangements of terminals, etc.,
will vary depending on the manufacturer, so confirm them in the operating manual for the
product used.

The connections shown in this diagram cut off the drive power in accordance with the input from
the emergency-stop button, external emergency-stop button and deadman switch on the
teaching pendant.

(2) Notes

 The customer must provide the contactors and safety relays to cut off the drive power.

 Select contactors with a rated capacity of 10 A or above.

 The noise filter for motor power input is supplied by IAI.

 The power line cables must be at least 1.0 mm sq. in size.

 Do not wire the signal cables such as I/O and emergency-stop cables together with the power

cables, but place them in separate ducts, etc., to provide a sufficient distance between them.

 Provide an external circuit protector with a rated capacity of 10 A or above, in order to cut off

the drive power and control power simultaneously. (This circuit protector is not shown in the
diagram on the next page.)

 If the drive power is cut off and turned on repeatedly, provide a minimum interval of 5

seconds between ON and OFF.

 Do not supply the drive power with the control power cut off.

 When the mode switch is set to the MANU (manual mode) side, the drive-source cutoff signal

cannot be reset if nothing is connected to the teaching connector. (Refer to 3, “Drive-Source
Recovery Request and Operation-Pause Reset Request.”)
