Read Input File

The second process in the meter reading cycle is to read an input file from the billing system.
This allows information to be synchronized between the billing system database and Badger
READCENTER database. Changed items are updated, and new accounts are added
automatically.

Note: Defining the file structure is done prior to software installation by a Badger Meter support
specialist.

It is possible to have multiple setting names, but usually just one is defined. An example of a
second setting might be to read in latitudes and longitudes from a geographic information
system (GIS). The structure of such a file might be different from the one provided by the billing
system.

Operation

Step 1.

Specify the Input File Name
and Location

First create a file for input from the billing system. The billing
system may refer to this as an export file or a download file.
Once the file is created, click Browse to find and select it.
Note: If the file name and location do not change, verify that
the box is filled in correctly.

You may optionally click View File to see what it contains.

Step 2.

Choose an Interface Format

Pick the interface format from the drop-down list. There is
usually one setting, and it is configured prior to software
installation and training. The interface format tells
READCENTER what data the file contains and how it is
structured. Using this information, READCENTER populates
fields automatically.
