Operation

Step 1.

Specify the output file
name and location

Click the Browse button to look for the name and location of the output file.

Note: If the file name and location do not change, verify that the box is filled in
correctly.

Step 2.

Choose an Interface
Format

Pick the interface format from the drop-down list. The same format name is
usually defined for both input and output files and is configured prior to
software installation and training. The interface format tells READCENTER

®

how to structure the reading data collected so the billing system can access it.

Step 3.

Select
Accounts

Select
Accounts
to include
in the file
based on
these
options.

By
Group

Choose By Group if an account group
has been defined with the accounts
selected for output. Pick the group from
the drop-down list. (Remember: the
group name is the setting name defined
in the Account Groups function.)

By Route

Choose By Route if routes for output
are sequential and do not require use of
an account group. Enter From and To
text for the range of routes.

By
Account

Choose By Account if accounts for
output are sequential and do not require
use of an account group. Enter From
and To text for the range of accounts.

Options

By Read Date

Use By Read Date to include only
accounts with a meter that was read
past a specified date.

Only Include Accounts Marked “Not
Sent”

This is useful when groups of
accounts are read over several
days but reads for each day must
be sent for billing.

Only include accounts where the
reading information has not been written
to an output file for billing. If reading
information has been sent, the Sent box
in the account record will show a check
mark. If reading information has not
been sent, the Sent box in the account
record will not show a check mark.

Note: Once the file is written using this
option, you will not be able to re-write it
because the Sent box in the account
record will now show a check mark.

Step 4.

Write File

Click View Selected Accounts to see accounts that will be included. Verify that the
number of accounts matches what is expected.
Click Write File to write collected reading data to a file for billing.

Optionally click View File to see what the output file contains.

Once the file has been written, follow procedures to process the file by the billing system.
This is sometimes referred to as an import or upload.
