Step 3.

Select Options

You may choose from the
options listed to the right to
tell Badger READCENTER
how to handle certain data.

Note: Options that are
disabled will be provided in
a future update.

Split Name—When the name is formatted as Last Name,
comma, First Name, it is possible to split the entries at the
comma so each is placed in a separate field within
READCENTER. This allows searching accounts by the last
name. (Note: Business names usually do not have commas,
so the entire entry is placed in the Last Name field.)

Split Address—Addresses are usually formatted as House #,
space, Street Name. It is possible to split the two entries at
the space so each is placed in a separate field within
READCENTER, permitting searching by the street name.
Set Route Length—When the Route ID is included at the
beginning of the Account ID field; it may be duplicated and
put in the

Route ID field. The information will then appear

only once in the input file but be stored in two areas of the
account record within READCENTER.

Step 4.

Process File

After completing the first three steps, you are ready to
process the file. Each line of the file is read and the data it
contains is put in corresponding fields within READCENTER.
A progress bar is displayed while the file is being read.

When file processing
is complete, a
message box such
as the one to the
right will display the
results. (See below
for explanations.)

Here is an explanation of the information shown on the Process Complete window:

Accounts Added: The number of accounts in the input file that were not in the

READCENTER database previously. This is expected during installation/training and
when an input file includes accounts that are being brought into READCENTER for the
first time.

Accounts Updated: The number of accounts already in READCENTER that were

updated. This is expected when an input file includes accounts brought into
READCENTER previously and read in again during subsequent reading cycles.
Accounts with name changes, new tenants/residents, and/or changed meter/module
numbers should be included as updates because the base account numbers have not
changed.

Lines Skipped: The number of lines in the input file that were not read into

READCENTER, including headers, footers, and trailers.

Total Lines: The total number of lines in the file, including accounts added, accounts

updated, and lines skipped.
