7 Troubleshooting

This chapter provides troubleshooting information for XP Business Copy and instructions for calling
technical support.

Make sure all XP Business Copy requirements and restrictions are met.

Make sure the storage system is powered on and fully functional. See the HP
StorageWorks XP24000/XP20000 Disk Array Owner Guide
for operational
and troubleshooting information for the storage system.

Check all input values and parameters to make sure that you entered the correct
information on the XP Business Copy windows (for example, P-VOL and S-VOL
IDs).

The Remote Web Console computer
hangs, or XP Business Copy
operations do not function properly.

Make sure the correct CU image is selected.

The volume pairs are not displaying
correctly.

Remote Web Console displays an error message if an error occurs during XP
Business Copy operations. The Error dialog box of XP Business Copy displays
the error code and the message (see

Figure 40 (page 98)

).

An XP Business Copy error message
is displayed on Remote Web Console.

Save the Java log file on Remote Web Console, and report to HP technical
support.

For Windows 2000, the Java log file is in the following location:

c:\Documents and Settings\login user ID\plugin131.trace

Exit the Web browser, close all other applications, and then restart the computer.
If the problem persists, verify that the computer’s operating system and LAN
hardware and software are properly configured.

There is a problem with Remote Web
Console.

The pair may have been suspended or deleted from the UNIX/PC server host
using RAID Manager. If not, the storage system detected an error condition
during XP Business Copy operations. Check the Remote Web Console error
log. If necessary, call the HP technical support technical support for assistance.

The XP Business Copy pair status is
incorrect (or unexpected).

If a pinned track occurs on an XP Business Copy P-VOL or S-VOL, the storage
system will suspend the pair. Contact your HP technical support representative
for assistance in recovering pinned tracks.

There is a pinned track on an XP
Business Copy volume.

The SVP might not be ready to perform some write processes from the other
system. Wait for a while, and then select File and then Refresh from the window.

Only the Exit and Refresh menus are
effective when accessing the SVP from
Remote Web Console.

The XP Business Copy software displays error messages on the Remote Web Console computer
when error conditions occur during XP Business Copy operations. The XP Business Copy Error
dialog box (see

Figure 40 (page 98)

) displays the XP Business Copy error code and message.

To display the Error dialog box, select the failed volume in the Preview List on the Pair Operation
window, right-click to display the menu, and then click Error Detail. See the HP StorageWorks
