Switching off the
server

The method to switch off the server varies, depending on the
operating system used. Make sure of the OS (operating system)
and switch off the server.

Normal shutdown

To shutdown the server, shut down the OS by the normal method.

See Respective OS User's Guide.

When Windows Server 2003 / Windows 2000 is set to the ACPI
mode, the server is automatically turned off after a shutdown.
In the case of an OS that does not support the ACPI mode or an
OS not set to the ACPI mode, press the power switch on the server
after performing a shutdown to turn the server off.

NOTE: If the server is
switched on by the
Wake On LAN function
once, and it is
switched off before
loading of the LAN
driver on the OS, the
Wake On LAN function
may fail in switching
on the server next
time. If this trouble
occurs, disconnect
all the power cables
from the AC outlets so
that the Wake On LAN
function can return
the server to a status
in which the power can
be turned on.
