Notes on use of the Win-
dows Server 2003 / Win-
dows 2000 ACPI mode

About the shutdown
operation of models
that are
compatible with the
Windows Server 2003
/
Windows 2000 ACPI
mode

If Windows Server 2003 / Windows 2000 is installed on your
MAGNIA and it is placed in the ACPI mode, you can use “Power
Management” in the control panel to set how your server acts
when you press the power button. If you select “Shutdown” in the
Power Management dialog box, your system will automatically
shut down and turn off when you press the power button.

Unlike the normal shutdown process, shutting down the system
using the power button causes the application software to abort
before the completion of the normal termination process. When
shutting down the server in this way, pay heed to the data under
editing because it is not saved after shutdown and also because
such a shutdown process may cause damage to the application that
is currently up and running.

Hints on operation
of the power button

If the power button is operated during operation of the Windows
Server 2003 / Windows 2000 or shutdown operation or the power
button is operated in a wrong way, it may cause malfunction of the
server.
Follow the instructions mentioned below for securing steady
operation of the system:
