General Maintenance
5. Pressurize the parking brake with the pressurizing unit. Close the
needle valve on the pressurizing unit.
6. Working through the level plug hole (Figure 87, 1), carefully use a
screwdriver to spread the brake disks apart.
IMPORTANT! DO NOT damage the surfaces of the brake disks when
spreading the brake disks.

7. Using a feeler gauge, check the gap (Figure 88, 1) between the
brake disks (2). If the gap is greater than .167" (4,25 mm), replace
the brake disks.
NOTE: If the brake disks are worn beyond .167" (4,25 mm), the brake disk
must be replaced on both sides of the axle at the same time.
8. Repeat step 6 and step 7 for the other side of the axle.
9. Continue with step 6 of “B. Axle Oil Change” on page 131.
