 I do not think my injectors are pulsing. What can I check?

o

Make sure the BS3 and MSD systems are grounded directly to the battery.

o

Plug a “noid” light into each injector position in the injector wire harness. Turn the

engine over and see if the light pulses for each injector location.

 I do not think my COP coils are firing. What can I check?

o

Make sure the BS3 main wire harness ground is wired directly to the battery.

o

Make sure the coil ground wire is grounded to the engine block or cylinder head. No

other ground location will work!

 Since my DAI enable wire is also the timer enable wire (the Boost connector Pin A, pink wire),

how can I trigger my timing events (e.g. 3 stage timing retard tables) and data log (Replay) at
the same time. See

Data_Trigger_Replay_Relay_Wiring

above.

o

Connect the DAI/Timer Enable wire to an inverted signal from the trans-brake. See an

example on how to invert the signal via a relay in the Boost section of this manual.

 Can I use a 5 Bar MAP sensor? Yes, but you will need to know what the transfer function of

the sensor is. Once determined, call BigStuff3 for the final determination. Note: The 4 BAR
MAP sensor sold by BigStuff3 is good to 52 PSI.

 How to use starting line timing retard. See the

Start_Line_Timing

section above

 Why is the Replay feature better than using my laptop to log data? See the section above in

this manual titled “Data Acquisition”, then the paragraph titled Logging vs. Replay.

 Why are my “Replays” all are distorted?

o

Calibrations based on the Original replay firmware cannot be loaded into ECU’s with

“Extend Replay” firmware and vice versa. If your GEN3 system includes the ETM,
EGT or NTK WBO2 options, it also includes “Extended Replay” firmware and can only
accept calibrations from other ECU’s with any one of these optional system. If you
loaded an “Original” replay calibration into a GEN3 ECU that has the ETM, EGT or
NTK WBO2 options, your Replay function will be corrupted and the ECU may need to
sent back to BS3, so that it can be reconfigured. If you load a calibration with Extended
Replay firmware into an ECU with Original Replay firmware, you will need to reset it
by going to Configuration/Check Replay Type. When the next screen opens, click on
the box which says, “Set to Original Type”. Save your changes, and then turn the
ignition off for 20 seconds. Lastly, take all power (disconnect the battery) away from
the GEN3 ECU momentarily. If this fails, contact BigStuff3.

 How do I know if my Bosch WBO2 sensor is bad?

 First make sure the sensor to main wire harness connection is good.
 Add the UEGOR signal to the Dash. Turn the ignition on. The UEGOR value should

count down from 255 to a value close to 80. If it does not the heater is bad. The sensor
should also read 15.9 in the open air.

 Also, if the O2 sensor is stuck at 14.7 for gasoline, the sensor is not connected or it’s

defective.

 How can I check if my NTK WBO2 Methanol sensor is working?

 First check the control circuitry by disconnecting the sensor from the harness. Turn the

ignition to the BS3 ECU on. The AFR value in the Dash should read 6.4. Key off and
reattach the sensor to the harness. Turn the ignition to the BS3 ECU back on. The
sensor should read 6.9. Also, check your last Replay. The ECM Valid should read
“On” to indicate the sensor is working. Always wire you the NTK WBO2 on a separate
supply switch and always turn the sensor on after the engine is started.

 What caused my O2 sensor to fail?

 Being dropped

 Running leaded fuel
