“Dash” Window

Static Test Timing (This feature is not functional with all released firmware)

The “Static Test Timing” feature allows for a quick way to lock the entire spark map to a fixed value.
This feature eliminates the need to enter a fixed spark value into all the cells in the spark map when
setting the “Crank Reference” value. A “Test Timing” value of 40

o

is recommended. The enable

check box, directly below the calibration value, must be checked to invoke this feature. Once enabled,
the user can adjust the “Crank Reference” value up or down to ensure that the “Dash” spark advance
value (Spk_Adv in the Dash) equals 40

o

at the crankshaft (on the dampener).

Note: The Static Test must be run with the engine RPM at 2,500 or above.

This feature can also be enabled as a quick way to verify the rotor phase (using a timing light through a
hole in the distributor cap) at peak horsepower timing. Enter the timing value for peak horsepower
instead of the suggested 40

o

.

Note: Do not forget to uncheck the Static Test Timing box once the test is complete, although the
“Test Timing” value becomes invalid once the TPS exceeds the Clear Flood TPS for safety reasons (in
case you forget to disable it), and during cranking.

For more detailed information on how to use this feature, and how to set the “Crank Reference” go to
the BigStuff3 website under the How To/Help section via this link:

Fan Control

This input screen allows the user to determine at what coolant temperature the GEN3 ECU will turn
the engine-cooling fan(s) on (Fan On Temp) and off (Fan Off Temp). The Fan Off temperature should
be ~ 5

o

to 10

o

less then the Fan On temperature. The fan must be wired into the GEN3 system using a

relay. See the section above titled

Fan

for specific detail on how to accomplish this.
