System Suspend - Puts the system into suspend mode, a
power management state. The state of the system and
peripheral devices is saved in memory (RAM). Power
consumption is reduced to a minimum, and the system
remains on. To return the system to the active state, press any
key or the power switch on your computer.
System Save to Disk - Provides for the lowest level of
power consumption. The state of the system and peripheral
devices is written to the hard disk and the system power is
turned off. To return the system to the original state, use the
power switch to turn on power. The system data is saved in

the Save to Disk Partition on the hard drive.
Video Standby - Turns off the LCD to save power. If video
power management is turned off, the display remains active
except when the system enters system standby or system
suspend mode. The video display system is one of the largest
consumers of power in the system.
Hard Disk Standby - Turns off the hard disk spindle
motor. Although you can manually turn off the power to the
hard disk through this command, any system request to the
hard disk will turn on the power to the hard disk. During the
power management states of system standby and system
suspend, the peripheral devices not in use can be turned off
to conserve power.
Modem On - Turns on the internal modem.

Modem Off - Turns off the modem to save power. If you
open software that requires the internal modem while the
internal modem is in off mode, an error may occur. If this
happens, click Modem On, and then restart the software.
PCMCIA Control - Controls the PC card sockets. Double
click this button to open the PC Card (PCMCIA) Properties
dialog box. You can view the properties for the PC cards.
