Voice Contact

You can have a voice conversation on the same call after fax transmission or reception is completed.

This saves the extra expense and time of making a subsequent telephone call to discuss the information

sent over the fax.

important:

• This feature works only when the other party’s unit is equipped with the voice contact/call reservation

feature.

Initiating voice contact

Press SP-PHONE/VOICE STDBY while

transmitting or receiving documents.

VOICE STANDBY

—Your unit will call the other party with a

distinctive ring.

0 When the other party answers, the unit will

emit a distinctive ring. While ringing, press
SP-PHONEA^OICE STDBY again or lift the
handset to start speaking.

Notes:

• If you initiate voice contact while transmitting

documents, you can speak after all the
documents have been transmitted.

• If you initiate voice contact while receiving

documents, you can speak after the current page
of the documents is received.

• You can initiate the voice contact by lifting the

handset during transmission or reception.

• If the other party does not answer, the line wili be

disconnected automatically.

Receiving a request for voice contact

If the other party initiates voice contact, your unit will emit a distinctive ring after the transmission or
reception is completed.

When a distinctive ring is heard, press SP-PHONE/VOICE STDBY or lift the handset, then start speaking.

Note:

• If you do not answer within 10 seconds of hearing the distinctive ring, one of the following occurs:

When the unit is in the ANS/FAX mode, it will play back your greeting message and record the incoming

voice message.

When the unit is in the TEL/FAX, FAX or TEL mode, the line will be disconnected.
