Octatrack MIDI OUT is connected to the MIDI IN of the synthesizer. A synth module is con-
nected to the MIDI THRU of the synthesizer. The Octatrack can MIDI control both the syn-
thesizer and the synth module. At the same time the keyboard of the synthesizer can be
used to play Octatrack samples, play the synthesizer itself as well as the synth module.
MIDI CONTROL USING CC DIRECT CONNECT AND THE AUTO CHANNEL
By taking advantage of the CC DIRECT CONNECT feature, easier and more intuitive MIDI
sequencing is possible. It allows the Octatrack MIDI sequencer to live record and parame-
ter lock knob CC values of the synthesizer by turning the knobs directly on the synth itself.
1. Set the synthesizer so it receives MIDI data on MIDI channel 1. The synth module
should listen to MIDI channel 2. The knobs of the synthesizer should be able to transmit
MIDI CCs and the synth keyboard should be able to transmit MIDI note on/off messages.
All synthesizer MIDI messages should be sent on channel 16. The synthesizer should
be set to local off. The channel assignments can of course be made differently and are
only used in this tutorial as a suggested MIDI setup.
2. Open the PROJECT menu by pressing [FUNCTION] + [MIXER]. Select CONTROL and
MIDI SEQUENCER. Press [ENTER/YES].
